The internet is so full of motivational quotes that by now most of us are immune to them. Every now and then, however, we come across one that jumps off the screen to come live inside of us. That’s what happened to me this week. Routinely scrolling through my Instagram feed, I found this quote:
As I mentioned last week, my love for the pink bomber was born on the day I tried on Valfré’s Mermaid jacket at Lady Petrova. Wearing it felt like a magical hug and though I fell head over heels for it, I was there to buy a dress I’d had my eye on forever so I ended up leaving the bomber behind. A week later it was sold out and I really regretted not buying it, so I started looking for an alternative.
A couple of years ago my mum decided to throw a Thanksgiving lunch even though it’s not really a holiday we celebrate here in Australia or even in Brazil. Before eating, we went around the table and everyone said one thing they were grateful for. I scanned my very long mental list, and while there were many things I could have said, I ended up settling for “I’m thankful for changes, and for knowing that nothing ever stays the same”.
One of the highlights of Melissa’s new A/W ’15 collection, “Star Walker”, is the return of the collaboration with Alexandre Herchcovitch. It’s been a few years since he last designed something for the brand, but the Brazilian fashion designer is back with three amazing new styles: a cool brogue called Backless, his floral version of the Queen flat, and this stunning Flower Boot featured on today’s look.
One of the best things about living in Melbourne is that sooner or later every show comes to town. I’ve seen countless bands play live, and last year I started prioritising musicals, something I’ve always loved. Thanks to my boyfriend, Wicked was the first one I saw. Once wasn’t enough, so I went again with my mum, who obviously had fallen in love with it too. Then just as Les Miserábles was about to close, I had the privilege of attending one of their performances, and saw one of my all-time favourite stories come to life on stage. Yet, even after all of this amazingness, last week I attended what I now know will always be my favourite musical: Once.
