The internet is so full of motivational quotes that by now most of us are immune to them. Every now and then, however, we come across one that jumps off the screen to come live inside of us. That’s what happened to me this week. Routinely scrolling through my Instagram feed, I found this quote:
As I mentioned last week, my love for the pink bomber was born on the day I tried on Valfré’s Mermaid jacket at Lady Petrova. Wearing it felt like a magical hug and though I fell head over heels for it, I was there to buy a dress I’d had my eye on forever so I ended up leaving the bomber behind. A week later it was sold out and I really regretted not buying it, so I started looking for an alternative.
One of the best things about living in Melbourne is that sooner or later every show comes to town. I’ve seen countless bands play live, and last year I started prioritising musicals, something I’ve always loved. Thanks to my boyfriend, Wicked was the first one I saw. Once wasn’t enough, so I went again with my mum, who obviously had fallen in love with it too. Then just as Les Miserábles was about to close, I had the privilege of attending one of their performances, and saw one of my all-time favourite stories come to life on stage. Yet, even after all of this amazingness, last week I attended what I now know will always be my favourite musical: Once.

Yesterday the boyfriend and I finally went to see Les Miserábles. The book has been one of my all-time favourites ever since I first read it, many years ago, and I loved the movie too. Seeing it live has been on my bucket list for ages, so needless to say, I was really excited. The musical closes in Melbourne on the 20th, and then will tour Perth and Sydney in 2015. I’m really glad I got to see it, even though I left red-faced from crying so much. The story is as touching as ever, with great performances by the Australian cast and epic music that makes every hair on your body stand on end. If you have the chance to go see Les Mis, do it. It’s worth every cent.
To celebrate such a special occasion, I decided to wear my new Lady Petrova Waterfalls dress for the first time. By now you all probably already know that “being good to twirl around in” is totally one of my pre-requisites when buying new clothes, and this dress is perfect for it. The loose fit is quite different to what I usually wear, but the great thing about it is that it never made me feel big or shapeless. And to make it all even more fun, I paired it with my ice-cream heels from the Karl Lagerfeld collaboration with Melissa Shoes. I also appealed to my trusty trench coat from Topshop to keep me dry when it started pouring in the afternoon. Luckily it stopped raining just long enough for us to take a few pictures…
It’s almost February and I’ve only just gotten around to sharing with you what I wore for Christmas. I got my hair coloured for the first time ever that day (another blog post that has been sitting on my drafts queue for a month), so I was still feeling very… not myself. Thankfully this dress was very me, because it was only when I put it on that I felt a little bit more comfortable. And since I had been saving it for weeks I couldn’t wait to finally take it out for a spin. I had gone into Cue one day when they were having a sale and just had to have it as soon as I laid my eyes on it. I’ve been a fan of the brand ever since I moved to Australia but never bought anything from them until now. I just couldn’t resist this little black dress made with beautiful fabrics, a Lady Petrova-esque tulle skirt and modern zipped corset. So pretty! And as soon as I got home I realised these shoes would be the perfect complement for my Christmas Eve look.
As you have noticed, I’ve changed the blog’s layout. The other one still had something not quite right about it – even though I couldn’t figure out what it was exactly. This new theme that WordPress started offering was the answer for my problems and just about everything I wanted. There is a little more work to be done, but very minor, and I’m sure this time I’ll be very happy for longer with the way MissMatchy looks now. Did you like it too? Just let me know if you experience any issues with it, okay?
