Living in Melbourne, I always feel that there are way too many beauty treatments available, and it can get a little overwhelming. I’m usually lazy so I just settle for going to whatever salon or spa is closest to where I am located and take a gamble on their services. The only time I feel a little more confident is if I have a friend recommend me a new treatment, which isn’t always the case. Most of the time if I want to try something new I have to stop by to grab a brochure to find out what treatments they offer and how much they charge, unless they have a website – which surprisingly isn’t always the case, even though it’s 2016.
That’s why I was very excited to find out about Vaniday, a website/app designed to help you search for and book anything from a haircut to a facelift. It’s very handy when it comes to finding the right nail salon for you, for example, because you can look up a specific service by area, price or even date and time. Once you find something you like, you can read more about the treatment or the salon from the blurbs available and if you’re confident you’ve found what you were after, you can book and pay for it straight from the website.
I had never had a facial before precisely because I always felt overwhelmed and didn’t really know where and what to look for. So when Vaniday contacted me to try out their services, I figured it would be a good opportunity to finally get one. I searched for facials in Melbourne, had a snoop around the options available, and then booked the Dermalogica Express Facial from the Orchid Day Spa in the CBD. I liked that it was recommended for all skin types and that I also knew what to expect, since they explained on Vaniday that it would encompass a power cleanse, steam, exfoliation and mask.
On the day of my treatment I found that Orchid Day Spa can be hard to spot because it is a little door nestled between the bustling restaurants on Hardware Lane. The cool thing about the place, though, is that it’s a lot bigger than it looks like from the outside, with two levels. After checking in at the reception, which is also where you’d go for manicures or to purchase some really nice beauty products, I was lead upstairs to a very soothing waiting area. Needless to say, the treatment itself was also very relaxing. I was a little worried I wouldn’t see results because it was just an express facial, but I was wrong. Even though I didn’t have a trace of makeup on anymore, I still felt confident enough to go out for dinner afterwards because my skin had never looked as luminous like it did then. And since I had booked for my treatment on Vaniday, it was already paid for, so I didn’t even need to take my wallet with me. It was great.
So if you want to discover new treatments, if you’d like to find an easier way to make your bookings or even if you just want to receive e-mails with the best beauty deals around your area, sign up for a free Vaniday account. It is currently available in Melbourne and Sydney only, but they also hope to expand to other cities soon. And if you’re from Brazil, I’m stoked to say you can also use Vaniday BR to book your next beauty treatment in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. :)
